However dark the history of Poland has been, the country is now rushing towards a bright future. Poland is welcoming internationalization in all areas, from higher education to all aspects of business and trade. Poland is truly the country where the east meets the west. As a result of Poland’s willingness to welcome the world in combination with a great increase with investments from western economies, Poland is experiencing modernization of everything from infrastructure to shopping malls. The main advantages a student will be subjected to if one chooses to pursue his/her higher studies in Poland are:

  • High quality Polish education system- Polish university education system has a history of 650 years of educating high profile professionals over time. It resulted with a profit not only for Poland, but also for many countries all around the world. Polish academy traditions can be traced back as early as to the 14th century. The Jagiellonian University in Krakow formed in 1364 was established as the second university in Central Europe. Today’s Polish universities continue the glorious traditions of their predecessors. Warsaw University, for example, is ranked first in the top Coder International IT rankings. Polish doctors, engineers, architects and IT specialist are acclaimed and considered to be fully prepared to compete on a global job market. The quality of the system is guaranteed by the State Accreditation Committee, which monitors all Polish higher education institutions. According to its control results, over 80% of the Polish universities have outstanding outcomes and good rankings.
  • Low costs of study and living- Although Poland undergoes a process of rapid development, the cost of living is significantly lower than most of the other European Union countries. For a student, a total amount of 300-400 Euros is enough to cover the basic cost of accommodation, food and transport. The basic cost of studies is also very competitive. The minimum rate is 2000 Euros a year (Approx. INR 1, 30,000), which is much lower than the average tuition fee in any Indian Private University.
  • Rapid development- For business expansion in Europe, smart investment is moving towards east. As the largest economy in Central and Eastern Europe and the sixth strongest market in the European Union, Poland is one of the key markets of EU member countries and part of the Schengen area. Not only that, but the Polish economy is the only one to have avoided recession during the global downturn of 2009, establishing itself as one of the most reliable in CEE.
  • High level personal security-In spite of popular image, Poland is much safer than most of the other European countries. Even the Nordic countries which are considered very safe, has much higher crime rate than Poland. It is perfectly safe for international students of all races, origins and beliefs.
  • Internship-Students have a chance to do an internship in modern companies and can learn certain skills that can be extremely useful in their future endeavors. Poland is a young, energetic and multi-lingual nation.
  • Part time and Full time jobs-During vacations, the international students are permitted to work 20 hours per week and full time during summer vacations.
  • Rich cultural heritage-Poland has a truly rich cultural heritage to cherish upon. Thirteen sites in Poland have been put onto the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites, including the Bialowieza Forest and Wieliczka Salt Mine. Poland offer an astonishing nature including 23 national parks, primeval forests, estuaries, chalk cliffs, limestone caves and a number of world’s highest lakes.

Today, the Polish higher education system is developing dynamically. Poland holds the 4th place in Europe (after the United Kingdom, Germany and France) in terms of the number of people enrolled in higher education. The total student population in Poland in over 450 higher education institutions totals to almost 2 million. Each year about half a young million people begin their education at Poland’s universities and colleges. Polish Universities offer more than 200 high quality study programmers as an integral part of the European higher education system. Most schools offer their courses in various foreign languages. Polish Universities represent one of the highest standards of teaching in the world they are becoming successful in meeting all quality criteria and are becoming more and more international. Excellent and open- minded professors, student-centered staffs, modern facilities and variety of courses taught in foreign languages make Polish Universities very attractive for foreign students. It also serves to support a student’s personal development and professional career. Today, in 2015, Poland has almost 2 million students studying in their nationwide universities and they are becoming more and more successful in boosting overall student mobility by internationalizing its universities and building more and more regional and global links.

The University of Wrocław has a rich history of more than three centuries. Founded by Leopold I Habsburg the university evolved from a modest school run by Jesuits into one of the biggest academic institutions in Poland. At the beginning of the 19th century the university had five Faculties: philosophy, catholic theology, evangelical theology, law and medicine. Later it was expanded by numerous sections, laboratories and a natural museum, which exists until today.
Today, the first and foremost focus of The University of Wrocław is scientific research. Our scholars have numerous links with their fellow researchers from other higher education institutions in Poland and throughout the world. The success of our researchers has been recently recognized by Polish authorities, who significantly increased funding for both equipment and research at our University by 80% compared to previous years.
The Academic Incubator of Entrepreneurship is a new unit of the University of Wrocław designed to aid students in starting their own businesses by providing free entrepreneurial advice, organizing conferences, seminars, subsidizing selected investments and offering office space. The Academic Incubator of Entrepreneurship cooperates with the Wrocław Technology Park, a technological centre with laboratories, office space, conference centre and modern multimedia equipment. The objective of the Technology Park is to create conditions for the use of scientific and industrial potential of Wrocław and the region and to stimulate the advanced technologies industry. The Universit of Wrocław is proud to be one of its shareholders.
Today the University of Wrocław is the largest university in the region and teaches over 40,000 students and around 1300 doctoral students at 10 Faculties. 9000 students graduate from the University every year.
